Oh yes, he did

Doctrine Man invoked Field Marshal William Slim’s “Defeat into Victory” in his latest masterpiece:

Sadly, I haven’t had the time to crack open Slim’s book.  However, I’m intimately familiar with the passage mentioned in Doctrine Man’s video.  After all, Admiral J.C. Harvey quoted it in a Small Wars Journal discussion thread, responding to a snarky editorial on the military’s use of PowerPoint.  (Perhaps you’ve heard of it?)

Admiral Harvey recommended I read the book, and I’ll have to take him up on the offer.  Of course, that means I’ll have to bump Napoleon, Radetsky and van Creveld even further back in the to-read list.

Jeez, thanks, Doctrine Man…
